About the Workshop
This one day workshop will cover the basic principles and science of assistive technology assessment of needs / goals identification, characteristics of technologies avaiable to meet clients needs, case studies and follow by an open discussion on the current issues on Assistive Technology. this woekshop will be addressing the chalenges that Assistive Technology Professionals / Practitionersare facing by gaining more knowledge on the principle and fundamentals of assistive technology.
Throughout htis course, case studies will be used to illustrate applications of principles and theories in assistive technology provision. terminology, principles and application of clinical isssues relating to assistive technology will be presented. the emphasis of this course will bw on development of an understanding of the general assessment process and principles. Goal writing and related measures of functional performance will be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the course, the trainees should
- Gain a basic understanding of terminology, principles and applications of clinical practices relating to Assistive Technology.
- Develop an understanding of the general assessment process, team, principles, goal writing and related measures of functional performance as they apply to Assistive Technology provision.
- Develop a basic understanding of how technology features, products and theories apply to interfacing, selecting and recommending Assistive Technology interventions.
- Describe major sources of funding for Assistive Technology.
- Recoginze and appropriately use relevant terminology for the various different categories of Assistive Technology presented.
- Identify characteristics of equipment features for the various different categories os Assistive Technology presented.
